Antje Ellermann
Antje Ellermann (she/they) is Professor of Political Science and Founding Director of the Centre for Migration Studies at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, x史m蓹胃k史蓹y虛蓹m (Musqueam) territory. From 2016 to 2021 she served as Director of the UBC Institute for European Studies. Her award-winning research focuses on the politics of migration and citizenship in liberal democracies.
Antje鈥檚 current research projects include a community-engaged study of settler narratives of belonging in Coast Salish territories (Metro Vancouver) and a comparative study of immigration bureaucracies in Canada, Australia, and the UK. She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies and is past Co-President of the American Political Science Association鈥檚 Migration and Citizenship Section. Born and raised in Germany, Antje spent many years living, working, and studying in Northern Ireland, England, and the United States before moving to Canada. She serves as the UBC Project Director of Bridging Divides.
