Students were given the assignment of creating an inner city community demonstration garden. The site was understood as a network of complex spatial, ecological, economic and cultural histories. After thorough analysis of the complex process of food production and distribution, the overall networks and connections of the site within the city context were considered. The findings were overlaid with the aspects of creating an informative, accessible and functional inner city community demonstration garden. The key to the design was to integrate the functional and educational food production spaces with the leisure activities of an inner city public open space.
