A Gemini Award-winning filmmaker, doctoral scholar, and musician  is also a poet, storyteller, and change-maker. Positioning himself as an , Cyrus continues to expand and find cracks in conventional boundaries presenting his research, films, and music at numerous national and international broadcasts, festivals, and conferences. 



His recent essays are published in peer reviewed collections:  (2020); (2020). Cyrus’ photo/video installation  formed part of the at the MSVU Art Gallery in Nova Scotia (2019) and footage at WC2 Symposium Toronto (2018).



Cyrus’ directorial debut  is the winner of both a Gemini Award and the National Film Board of Canada’s Reel Diversity Award. On the foundation of his sixteen-year documentary/storytelling career, he conceived and successfully explored a new site-specific hybrid live-documentary genre, Performing the Documentary, with world premieres at Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival:   (2016);  (2017) and at the Atlantic Film Festival (2018). 



As an award-winning composer Cyrus’ credits include, Genie Award Winner Moving Day, the Gemini Award Nominated , , and the International Award-winning documentary film Salaam Shalom: The Jews of India. His musical scores for CBC Radio Dramas have premiered to national and international audiences. As a singer/songwriter, Cyrus’ musical journeys have culminated in the release of his critically acclaimed CD, . 


 has written, produced and directed in a range of genres including documentary, reality, food, and lifestyle for various international broadcasters including BellMedia, CBC, VisionTV, Smithsonian Channel, Discovery Channel, and MuchMusic. His productions have taken him around the world including India, Israel, Spain, Haiti, Jamaica, and Sri Lanka. His writings have been published in poetry anthologies, academic journals, and peer reviewed medical journals.
