Academic Accommodations: Finding Middle Ground

Feelings about accommodations can sometimes determine our responses. Research shows that when faculty are uncertain about what to do (or are unsure that what they鈥檙e doing is 鈥渞ight鈥�) they may over-accommodate (think: infinite extensions) or under-accommodate (think: blanket 鈥渘o extensions鈥� course policies). This workshop drills down into 鈥渋cky鈥� feelings of uncertainty, frustration, fear, etc., that often go unspoken around accommodations, and provides guidance for finding the middle ground of accommodating students. Participants will also learn strategies to reduce the need for accommodations overall in their courses.
