Candice Dixon is a Toronto-based carnival arts practitioner, costume designer, and educator working at the intersection of Caribbean Carnival, theatre, and cultural storytelling. She is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of SugaCayne, a Carnival arts and production collective that has been reimagining mas-making since 2010, creating intricately designed costumes for carnivals in Toronto, Trinidad, Miami, Chicago, and the Cayman Islands.
Candice鈥檚 practice blends ancestral knowledge with contemporary design methods, treating costume as a vessel for memory, power, and embodiment. As lead designer of SugaCayne鈥檚 Innovation in Mas projects, produced in collaboration with 成人大片鈥檚 Design Fabrication Zone, she helped pioneer the use of 3D-printed and laser-cut elements in Caribbean Carnival costume design. Her work has been featured by CBC, CTV, NOW Magazine, and exhibited at institutions including the Royal Ontario Museum and the Ontario Science Centre.
A committed educator and theatre practitioner, Candice is the creator and instructor of Canada鈥檚 first accredited Carnival Arts course at 成人大片.
