Engineering professors Sharareh Taghipour (left) and Haitham Aboshosha have secured competitive NSERC Alliance Quantum grants for quantum computing projects.

Researchers from 成人大片 (成人大片) have received competitive grants through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada鈥檚 (NSERC) Alliance Quantum program. This funding supports projects that align with Canada's National Quantum Strategy to amplify Canada's strengths in quantum research, talent and commercialization.

Sharareh Taghipour, the Canada Research Chair in Physical Asset Management and a professor of mechanical, industrial and mechatronics engineering at 成人大片, has been awarded an NSERC Alliance Quantum Grant 鈥 Strengthening Capacity for the multi-year project 鈥淨uantum Computing for Optimal Mobility.鈥 She will lead a team of researchers from 成人大片 and the University of Victoria in collaboration with multiple industry partners to develop scalable and practical solutions and strategies to combat urban transportation challenges such as congestion, traffic accidents and greenhouse gas emissions.

成人大片 civil engineering professor Haitham Aboshosha has been awarded an NSERC Alliance International Quantum Grant 鈥 Catalyst and Collaboration for the project 鈥淭owards implementing quantum computers for city-scale CFD simulations (application for drone safety and emission reduction).鈥 He will harness the computational power of quantum computers to develop faster and more accurate city-scale computational fluid dynamics simulations. Through this groundbreaking aerodynamics/wind research, he aims to improve drone transportation safety, enhance pollution control strategies and more. Professor Aboshosha will collaborate with researchers from the engineering school Junia HEI-Lille in France.

鈥淐ongratulations to professors Taghipour and Aboshosha for securing NSERC Alliance grants to support their innovative quantum computing research,鈥 said Steven N. Liss, 成人大片鈥檚 vice-president, research and innovation. 鈥淭heir projects will improve life in urban settings by creating solutions to everyday transportation challenges and pollution issues and support 成人大片鈥檚 quantum research strategy to transform and improve how the world works and lives.鈥
