What is it?
The Canada Learning Bond (CLB) is money that the Government adds to a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) for children from low-income families. This money helps to pay the costs of a child鈥檚 full-time or part-time studies after high school at the following:
- Apprenticeship programs
- CEGEPs
- Trade schools
- Colleges
- Universities
Personal contributions to a RESP are NOT required to receive the CLB.

To be considered for CLB, you need to do the following:
- Gather personal information.
- Contact a participating RESP promoter to open an RESP.
- Check that the CLB is deposited in the RESP.
