Toronto is in the 鈥淒ish With One Spoon Territory鈥�. The Dish With One Spoon is a treaty between the Anishinaabe, Mississaugas and Haudenosaunee that bound them to share the territory and protect the land. Subsequent Indigenous Nations and Peoples, Europeans and all newcomers have been invited into this treaty in the spirit of peace, friendship and respect.

Toronto Metropolitan University strives to develop positive relationships with the Indigenous community through initiatives such as the Indigenous Education Council (IEC), Gdoo-maawnjidimi Mompii Indigenous Student Services, and the Indigenous Initiatives unit in the Office of the Vice-President, Equity and Community Inclusion (OVPECI).

Mission statement
Gdoo-maawnjidimi Mompii Indigenous Student Services provides a culturally supportive environment for students that promotes academic excellence, offering a space to balance academic learning with traditional teaching and culture.
Gdoo-maawnjidimi Mompii Indigenous Student Services provides specialized services to First Nations, Inuit, M茅tis, and Canadian Indigenous students (or those who identify by nation or community) at 成人大片, all while developing a mutually productive relationship between 成人大片 and the Indigenous community.
Gdoo-maawnjidimi Mompii Indigenous Student Services is part of the Indigenous Initiatives unit in the Office of the Vice-President, Equity and Community Inclusion (OVPECI).
