Virtual Information Sessions: the Geriatrics program invites you to attend one of our upcoming virtual info sessions to learn more about the program and answer any questions that you may have. The info sessions will be approximately 30-45 minutes and will be held on the following dates:

Program information
成人大片鈥檚 Geriatrics residency is a two-year subspecialty program that will help residents to become excellent geriatricians who are prepared to meet their patients鈥� unique needs. Through a comprehensive training approach, the program will ensure that its graduates are well prepared to address the complex needs of the aging population with expertise, cultural competency and empathy.
The Geriatrics residency program will focus on patient-centered care, equipping residents to conduct comprehensive geriatric assessments that consider the physical, psychological, social, cultural, and functional aspects of each patient. Using evidence-based practices, residents will gain skills and experience managing acute and chronic conditions commonly encountered in geriatric patients. Residents will also learn to provide compassionate and appropriate end-of-life care that respects the wishes and dignity of patients and their families.
This program accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Foundational Curriculum
Our comprehensive, competency-based Foundational Curriculum has been designed to address competencies that are not always fostered within the clinical learning environment with a consistent approach across PGME programs. Areas of focus include team-based care, equity, diversity, inclusion and accessbility, and wellness and resiliency.
Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada and meet both the and the in order to apply to the Geriatrics program. Applicants must also submit all program-specific requirements by the application deadline.
Residents who complete 成人大片鈥檚 Geriatrics residency program will be eligible to take the Geriatric Medicine RCPSC board certification examination.
Geriatrics residents will train at three sites with whom 成人大片 has clinical affiliations.
includes Brampton Civic Hospital and Peel Memorial Centre in Brampton, ON and Etobicoke General Hospital in Etobicoke, ON. Brampton Civic Hospital's Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) Unit is the world鈥檚 first accredited inpatient emotions-based geriatric care unit.
includes Mississauga Hospital and Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, ON. Trillium operates a robust Regional Geriatric Medical Outreach Program that engages an interdisciplinary team to improve patients' health and overall quality of life.
operates five long-term care facilities in Peel Region, including Peel Manor Long-Term Care Home. Peel Manor operates a state-of-the-art Transitional Behavioural Support Unit, which incorporates non-pharmacologic and emotion-based management as well as in-depth pharmacologic management of Behaviors and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia.
How to Apply
Applications to the Geriatrics program at 成人大片 are only accepted through the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS). for detailed application requirements and to apply. All applicants will be notified through CaRMS Online and will send email invitations directly to applicants selected for an interview.
Note that three reference letters are required with your application. Letters from your current program director and a non-physician who can speak to your non-academic skills are mandatory.
