Study by by Thomas Lacroix and Anouk Flamant, 'The Association Nationale des Villes et Territoires Accueillants: The Becoming of an Activist City Network' explores how grassroots organizations in Toronto and Montreal mobilize urban solidarity to provide essential care and services for undocumented migrants.

Join Soli*City project director, Harald Bauder, in his  (PDF file) book presentation and discussion at Hamburg University on July 12 with Mouna Maaroufi and Helge Schwiertz. Also, a workshop on solidarity and local political initiatives in the social fields of migrations will take place on July 13.

Study by Harald Bauder, Nick Dreher, Omar Lujan, and Oluwafunmilayo Asolo explores the concepts of Buen Vivir from Latin America and Ubuntu from Africa as a way to decolonize migration studies.

Carolina Stefoni, Mat铆as Jaramillo, Aline Bravo, and Gustavo Macaya-Aguirre explore the border between Chile and Bolivia and the increase restrictive control measures and irregular entries of already precarious Venezuelan migrants. 

On February 6, 2023  the Southeast of Turkey was impacted by two  earthquakes of 7.8 and 7.6 magnitude. Our project affiliate G眉lce Safak 脰zdemir is asking for our support for earthquake relief in Turkey.

Documentary Premiere: Migrant Lives in Pandemic Times

On Thursday October 28 (12-2 PM) our friends from CERC will premiere a series of 12 documentary shorts exploring stories of migrant lives in pandemic times.

Dr. Derese Kassa, associate professor of sociology at Iona College, has joined a team of researchers studying global migration trends thanks to a $2.4 million grant from the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).
