Faculty and staff play a key role in shaping ³ÉÈË´óƬ’s global engagement. Whether you’re exploring new opportunities or formalizing ongoing collaboration, this guide outlines the process and available support to help you move forward confidently.
³ÉÈË´óƬ’s international partnerships are guided by Policy 95: International Institutional Partnerships and Collaborative Activities, which outlines the university’s principles, procedures, and expectations for global collaboration.
Steps to Establishing a Partnership
³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ Global supports faculty and staff throughout the development of international partnerships, from initial consultation to agreement signing and renewal. All communications should be directed to global.partnerships@torontomu.ca.
Submit a Proposal and Obtain Faculty Support
- Complete the , which helps ³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ Global assess alignment with ³ÉÈË´óƬ’s strategic priorities, including the (PDF file) International Plan (2025–2030), Academic Plan, and (PDF file) Strategic Research Plan.
- Once submitted, you will receive an auto-confirmation email with a copy of your responses.
- Forward this email to your Dean and Academic Chair/Director, copying global.partnerships@torontomu.ca, and request that they confirm their support by replying to your email thread.
- Once ³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ Global receives this confirmation, we will contact you to determine next steps.
Agreement Development
- ³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ Global will review the proposal and evaluate the potential partner in accordance with Policy 95.
- If a formal agreement is required, ³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ Global will determine the most appropriate format (MOU or SAA) and coordinate the drafting process.
- ³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ Global will serve as the primary liaison for all external communications related to agreement language, using global.partnerships@torontomu.ca as the main point of contact with the partner institution.
- ³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ Global will liaise with the General Counsel and Board Secretariat (GCBS), incorporating revisions from all parties as needed.
Signing & Finalization
- Once the agreement is finalized, ³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ Global will coordinate the signature process, typically using DocuSign to ensure efficient execution.
- A digital copy of the fully signed agreement will be shared with the initiator and other relevant ³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ stakeholders.
Implementation & Ongoing Collaboration
- The initiator is responsible for implementing and managing partnership activities with the international partner.
- ³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ Global remains available for guidance and coordination support.
Midpoint Review, Renewal, or Closure
- ³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ Global tracks all agreements and will reach out at key milestones, including mid-point reviews and in advance of expiration.
- ³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ Global will consult with the initiator to review the partnership’s outcomes and determine whether renewal, revision, or closure is appropriate.
- Any formal updates will be coordinated by ³ÉÈË´óÆ¬ Global in alignment with Policy 95.
